I got to check out the food truck version of Butter My Biscuits! Cafe that will be opening soon, which promises to be the best brunch in Orlando. I really think the owner, Amy could be onto something big here. I got to attend this event along with several other local bloggers just to give them feedback on the food. I actually really dug the food, honestly. I’m not much for “southern” food, but this stuff reminded me of being a kid, you know when you stayed at grandmas house?
The event took place at a hotel. They were cooking the food in a food truck behind a small ballroom, and we all got seated inside. We got to try small portions of 5 different entrees, and I really liked all of them especially the biscuits and gravy. Also the Jackpot Bacon which tasted pretty similar to the million dollar bacon you find at the other brunch places around town. Just a tad more spicy, which was fine with me.
I got to meet the owner Amy, and she was super funny, very southern with a Texas accent that just really made the whole thing so more authentic. You’d expect a place called Butter My Biscuits to have a real southern girl behind and she was exactly what I expected.
I like that the whole situation didn’t feel like a sales pitch. We didn’t have to pay for anything and they didn’t ask for donations or anything like that. They just wanted us to try the food and spread the word, which is exactly what I’m doing.
I will be keeping this place on my radar for when it opens. I gotta get my hands on those biscuits again.
