Hi there party people.
Okay I am being all cliché here now. But how the hell can it be fall already? It’s become really cold and rainy here in the last couple of days and you cannot deny anymore that fall has arrived. The spots of orange in form of pumpkins that pop up everywhere right now might have been a good sign, too. One I chose to ignore. But when I found out that the supermarket has started to sell gingerbread again I had no choice but to accept it.
But okay, I love fall. I can cope with that. The shitty weather is after all a good excuse to snuggle up at home on the couch and do nothing but drink coffee and relax. Oh and I made my first PSL maybe like 5 min after being like ‘Starbucks sells PSL again – wayyyy to early!!!!’ But what can I say? I am easy prey to advertising. But I also had cold brew twice last week to make up for it. The last thing to make summer linger a little longer!
But anyway. It’s Monday and I feel like we should catch up a bit today. So much has happened in the last few weeks and I feel the need to share a bit. I am also linking up with Meg for a little fun with lists!
On Monday I got up and worked for 10 hours straight taking short breaks for food only. And after writing 14 pages I finally FINISHED MY DRAFT!!!!! Sorry for the screaming but I still cannot comprehend that this has really happened. Then I spend another 3 hours on Monday evening (including like three almost mental breakdowns) formatting. And then finishing it in another two hours on Tuesday morning.
When I was done I hopped on a train to Munich, spent 40 min chatting to the lady in the copy shop while she was printing and binding it and then I gave it to my professor. Within the next two weeks he is reviewing it and then we meet for hopefully final feedback. Guys I need you to cross your fingers for me because I need his feedback to be good. If he suggest major changes I am going to throw the thing in the next bin.
After giving it to him I felt like hit with a brick. And I have been tired ever since. Facinating how quickly this caught up with me.
So to celebrate a bit we had a pizza date with my cousin. We actually had planned to go out for Dim Sum but Stefan is off sick this week with lumbago and so we had to stay in. A praise to the pizza oven!
The rest of the week was a weird mix of naps, feeling guilty for not working on my thesis, watching tons of TV, feeling restless and trying to do normal life again.
So I went to the office and caught up with work, went on a walk in the woods with Stefan, had brunch with my mum and went back to Crossfit. It kicked my ass big time and I am still a little sore from Thursday’s class!
On Wednesday a lovely surprise came with the mail in form of granola and my favorite American candy. We are already half through both and I couldn’t love it more! Meg, you’re officially the best!
Besides a quick run to the supermarket and a quick apartment clean on Saturday Stefan and I spent the entire weekend relaxing. It was glorious. We hung out on the couch, had coffee and wine and Stefan made us pistachio gelato. And then we finished the weekend with a bang in form of a taco bar. Fingers crossed for more weekends like this to come.
I downloaded like 50 presets for lightroom and played with them with a bunch of pictures. I think I slowly get a feeling which preset works with which kind of image. It’s like magic! Editing has never been that much fun! I always had the hardest time editing landscapes and now with just a few clicks I love the look of my pictures. Big win!
After taking a week off thesis I am going to start with the reviewing and editing process today. I hope this will ease some of the anxious feelings I had about it last week. As stupid as it sounds I feel like I have to learn how to spend my time again once I have submitted it for good.
But nothing to stress about now because still have a few weeks of go go go in front of me!
