Friday morning and all I can bring myself to care about is getting over with this workday and having a hot date with this chilled Lemon Basil Moscow Mule my husband.
I am kidding!
Sort of.
I love Friday evenings. In fact I think it’s my favorite part of the week.
Over the course of the last few months somehow a nice little tradition has formed for Stefan and me. Usually I am cooking for us but on Fridays I hand over the crown and let the man do the business. While he cooks I sit in my little kitchen convertible, give incredibly good advise, piss him off a bit and sip an alcoholic beverage. To me it seems like incredibly good advice and alcoholic beverages go kinda hand in hand.
Lately I have found myself neglecting my white wine and gravitating towards variations of Moscow Mule. My favorite hands down being this Lemon Basil Moscow Mule Recipe!
Today I feel extra drawn to my Friday evening tradition. First I had a morning at work that had triggered my inner Daria Morgendorffer and made me wish I had stayed in bed altogether today. And as a plus I am on a ‘no alcohol on week nights’ detox/ diet/ challenge/ experiment whatever you want to call it.
I call it boring. But I digress…
Right. So I have basically been a sober bitch for the last 5 days and tonight is the night for epic Lemon Basil Moscow Mule kitchen date shenanigans. Whoever will be my hot date my husband or this drink I am in!
This Lemon Basil Moscow Mule Recipe is perfect year round but has a special place in my heart in the summer month. It’s sweet and tart both at the same time thanks to the combination of lemon and ginger beer. And it has a special fresh and herby note due to the use of ginger and basil leaves.
Make this drink for a garden party, when friends come over, for your hot date even if it’s just just you and the Mule. It’s the perfect drink for a late summer afternoon or any occasion to be honest. I wouldn’t even judge you if you drowned one in the middle of the day just so, because you felt like it.
I am not one to judge a lot!

Let’s cross our fingers for the last workday of the week to pass quickly. And then let’s welcome the weekend with this lovely. Okay scrap that I’ll even welcome the weekend early. And it’s always 5 o’clock somewhere…
Do you have any of those traditions?
PS I should probably also give another thanks to the guy who will be always my hot date #1. Becuase he helped me out with taking the Lemon Basil Moscow Mule overhead shot when I was too short.
Hellllooooo summer! These look SO good!
What a fun idea to let Stefan cook on Fridays! Jesse never cooks for both of us as all he ever tends to do is grill 😛
Thank you 🙂
I let him cook (and grill) as much as possible. He is a brilliant cook. The only thing I still try to make him change is writing down the measurements 😛
I’d happily drink one (or two) of these in the middle of the day. I love Moscow Mules and incorporating fresh herbs is a fantastic idea.
Thank you sweetheart 🙂
Oh I took these photos late afternoon in my in-law’s garden and then Stefan and I shared the drinks before heading back home. It was glorious and I am glad the in-law’s live in walking distance ;-P
