It’s only two more Mondays until Christmas. Have you started the Christmas Shopping yet? I tried but actually didn’t buy anything. At least I have my list ready now. The last week and the weekend passed by in a blur. This time of the year is rushing and there is too much in my mind to really appreciate the wonderful pre-Christmas time though I do have some really enjoyable things to report from last week!
Let’s start with the social part…
On Friday we had our inofficial (read all the cool kids) Christmas Party at work. We started on the really beautiful Augsburg Christmas Fair with some mulled wine, then went to dinner were I had a really good steak and finally ended up at a bar called Haifischbar (Shark’s bar). No comment – just judge yourself.
It was really fun but I was happy to go home at 1am. The week was exhausting and I was totally done!
On Sunday we had the kids over. We made gingerbread cookies with chocolate. When the kids were back home Stefan made Eggnog and Nougat Bailey’s. Seriously I can’t put in words how much I love my Thermomix this time of the year.
Whilst he was busy making booze I finished our Christmas decoration. We don’t have a tree yet. In Germany most families I know don’t put it up until the 24th. We usually put it up a week before.
And in the evening we made ourselves comfy and watched my 1st James Bond ever at candlelight. Okay this was a hoax – I only made it through 2/3 of the movie and we have to finish it today. But I get Brownie Points for trying, don’t I?
Let’s move onto the work part…
I had my last interview today – woohoo! That means I have finished the data collection for my dissertation! Can’t belive it. I have a creeping feeling of fear and anxiety as well as relief. A weird combination.
The situation regarding our contracts is still the same as last week and will surely remain unsolved until next week. I wonder if I should start looking for a new job or not. Most probably I don’t but my inner need for safety urges me to do something…anything…
And then there’s the workout part…
Oh oh last week was intense. We did chin-ups and pull-ups twice and my arms never recovered properly between the two sessions. On Tuesday we hit the ground hard with over 60 burpees in total only alternated by a mile of rowing. On Wednesday there were cleans and max rep front squats on the whiteboard and I gave up at 66. And Thursday there were 120 weighed lunches, more burpees, airbike and snatches. My glutes killed me for the rest of the week! Luckily we had indoor soccer on Saturday where I could run out the sore muscles. All in all I was very happy that I had such a demanding week of workouts. I always cope better when I am exhausted from a hard workout. Plus it makes me happy even when nothing else can help.
Last but obviously not least, let’s move onto food!!!
I am fully into Christmas baking mood but also totally into any no bake Christmas balls 😉 To start a little series of recipes, here you go with the first: Fruity Gingerbread Christmas Bites
But I also love me all the other yummy Christmas treats, paleo or not, vegan or not, local or exotic – I don’t care as long as they taste good 😉
Christmas Stollen and cookies made by the MIL. They all make my Christmas time pretty enjoyable.
Now this afternoon we have the official Christmas Party the cool kids, the rest and the boss. You can’t imagine how much I am actually looking forward to sit there with my boss and pretend that everything is alright and that I am such a motivated employee when my job and our entire project is at stake. But that’s life. And I am good at making a brave face 😛
Have a nice start to the week lovelies!
