I hope you all had a fantastic easter weekend! I can’t believe it’s already Tuesday and that we all have to be back at work. But as Stefan has a doctor’s appointment in the afternoon we can only work until 1:30 pm latest. Doesn’t sound too bad!
I didn’t post anything last weekend. Every time I sat down to write a post I got sidetracked and then I gave up on it. But I am happy I had time to spend with friends and family. And isn’t the easter weekend all about that?
On Friday after a day of snuggling up at home and eating homemade Pizza we spend the evening at a friend’s photo studio playing sing star. It’s the perfect location. He’s got a projector and screen and there’s so much space. You can also perform a stage show if you feel the groove 😉 It was 3.30 am when I finally was back at home. We had so much fun!
On Saturday we met my family for easter brunch. It was really nice to catch up with my cousin. She’d been MIA for about 3 month now as she is currently studying for her final exams of her medical studies. She has already passed the written exams and is now preparing for her oral exams in May. I know she’ll do perfect. She is one of the smartest persons I know!
On Sunday morning I got up early and went for a quick run. It was warm and sunny outside and I really enjoyed to catch some fresh air. I’ve head a terrible headache caused by foehn winds since Thursday and I hoped moving a little would help. Well it didn’t 😛 After a little egg hunt (yes we really do that 🙂 ) we met had coffee and cake at my in-laws to celebrate easter sunday with Stefan’s sister and husband as well as their lovely toddler boy and newborn girl.
After a lovely dinner of salad (for me) and a giant beef olive my father-in-law got us to test some Whiskey. My palate is not really educated so the only thing I contributed was: I like this one or this one tastes like crap! We had fun anyways 🙂
On Monday I finally finally finally managed to iron all the laundry! I hate ironing and I avoid doing it as much as possible. But with Stefan threatening to go to work naked as he literally had nothing left in his wardrobe I finally had to give in. Surprisingly it didn’t take me as long as I had anticipated. In the evening we met our good friends Stephan and Julia (yes, no joke!) at a Mexican bar for dinner.
My New Body Makeover Challenge
So after this rather long introduction about my weekend I still owe you a final round-up about my New Body Makeover Challenge which I initially started as making myself accountable for my half-marathon training. I had anticipated to tone up, maybe lose a little weight and find the motivation to eat according my meal plan.
If you have followed me over the last 15 weeks or so you might know that things turned out different. I didn’t really achieve any of those goals I had set in the beginning. Of course I rocked that half-marathon which was the biggest goal of that process but the small goals that I anticipated to lead through a great race just fizzled out!
Maybe I lost some fat and gained some muscle (my weight is pretty much the same as in the beginning of that challenge) maybe I toned up a little but the biggest achievement is far beyond measurement. You often read posts were people say that happiness comes from forcing your body to a certain physique or a certain level of fitness by setting your mind and then pushing through. I know that I can be pig-headed enough to do that! I’ve done that in the past and nearly damaged my health for good! This is maybe a concept of treating your body that is possible for other people but for me fighting a chronic illness this is simple not the way it works. To me the true achievement in this past 3 month was that I finally realized how I have to treat my body vs. how I think I should treat my body.
Mind over Matter? Bullshit to me! Mind and matter aka mind and body are an entity and putting one over the other is like loving one child more than the other. It just harms the whole entity!
So list-style I am highlighting my very wise insights for you 😉
A healthy body leads to a happy mind? No, it doesn’t work that way around. You need to be happy and treat yourself right in order to be healthy!
It’s good to have a plan and care about food but you don’t have to eat healthy 24/7. When food is a constant source of worry this is just not healthy anymore!
You can have cheese and chocolate and even a glass of booze when you want. That won’t shredder your effort or health!
Working out is a great way to enjoy yourself, challenge yourself and we don’t really have to go through all the health benefits of a good sweat BUT getting a proper rest and some solid hours of sleep is equally important!
If anything doesn’t go according to your plans it’s not always you who failed maybe the plan wasn’t the most brilliant in the first place!
Beneath working out and eating healthy there’s a fun life we all should enjoy from time to time
And last and maybe the most important: We should not always worry so much about everything! There have been millions of people who have lived a long, healthy and happy live without too much fussing!
Now that we’re all so much wiser here’s a quick link round-up of the process I’ve been through if you’re interested to read more:
Okay though it’s already Tuesday I am going to link-up with Meghan. I’m sure she appreciates that I incorporated even two lists today 😉 Hi Meghan 🙂
Hope you have a lovely start to the again short (speak of 4 days) week!
Would you want to add anything to my list? I appreciate your insights!
