I hope you’re having a great Wednesday! I am in the office today. I know!!! That sucks. I don’t want to! I am tired and unmotivated. Luckily I’ll redeem myself with a day off tomorrow. I had to switch things up a little as I have to come to work on SATURDAY!!!!!! My boss is hosting a conference and I have to do some “face care” as a former professor once called it very pointedly! I HATE it! I’m crap at small talk!
So for today I’m showing you what I ate last Saturday. I thought I am going to switch things up a little since my weekend eats always differ from my work week eats a lot. I’ve already told you about my long run for my half-marathon training and now I’ll provide you with my appertaining eats. You can read my running updates here.
On Saturday I woke up around 7.30 am without an alarm and moved with my blanket on the couch. We had an exhausting soccer practice on Friday evening and I did not at all feel ready for a run. But my mind was set – pigheaded me – and I made us breakfast.
When I go running in the morning I always have a liquid breakfast. I can’t stomach solid food whilst running. It makes me nauseous! So my liquid of choice was a great oatmeal chocolate protein smoothie with banana and peanut butter. Very creamy, very delicious!
A friend of mine – who is also running the half with me – told me that she always takes an energizer e.g. a bar with her n her runs which provides her with the extra fuel for the second half of her runs. I thought I could give it a try particularly as I had had problems with my energy levels on my last long run. I packed the less sweetest but softest bar I could find, a spirulina lemon bar. Let’s just say chewing and swallowing whilst running was not fun but despite all the obstacles I had to face with storm and sore limbs I had zero problems with my energy levels. I might have to make this a habit!
When I came home I was dead. I can never bring myself to eat first thing after a run so I took a bath and drowned a bottle of alcohol free beer. They say it’s isotonic – haha – but at least it’s liquid, thirst-quenching and provides some carbs. After my bath I had a toasted pretzel bun with cream cheese and a whole grain bread with banana and peanut butter.
I was not in the mood for work anymore but as I had burned over 1100 kcal during the run I needed another snack and settled for a yoghurt bowl with shredded coconut and frozen berries. I was a lazy bum in the afternoon and did nothing but binge-watching season 14 of “The Biggest Loser USA”. I am so addicted! I love Gillian! I would consider getting fat again in order to make sure she yells at me during 12 weeks of workouts! No kidding. But this women is in her 40s??? I couldn’t believe it!
In the evening we officially declared the BBQ season open and grilled a giant steak and some asparagus with garlic. It was awesome! My lovely mother-in-law – bless her – always fears we’re starving so she bought us these giant lovelies! I would have been way too thrifty to spend so much money.
So for today I am miserably working… no I don’t but I can’t promise I won’t dream myself away! And tonight I have soccer practice. On Monday I had zero energy and barely could lift my feet. Fingers crossed I’ll be better today. I’ve already enlarged my portion sizes. Maybe I just needed more energy!
Do you eat during your runs? If yes, what do you eat?
What’s your opinion about The Biggest Loser and Gillian?
Happy Wednesday Bloggie friends! Have a great day! 🙂 And many thanks to lovely Jenn, who hosts this fantastic link-up!
