This Monday morning I woke up with every intention to go to the office. I went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth and then headed for the kitchen in order to brew me a mug of the dark liquid elixir of life. I inhaled the hot steam and turned to the window and casually took a look outside. Slicky streets due to snow/rain/snow during the night that was nothing more than icy mud on the streets anymore now. All in all shitty road conditions paired with a manageable work amount I could also handle from home.
HOME OFFICE DAY!!!!!!!
Okay sweatpants. Okay I am wearing sweatpants to the office too when I know I have no appointments. But who cares. No commute either so I am practically single-handedly saveing the environment. Please don’t burst my bubble.
But before I start working through my almost empty work inbox – a praise for the holiday low – let’s catch up. I had a pretty brilliant last week of 2015 and a not so relaxing yet rewarding start to 2016. I’ll also link-up with Meg who dedicated her post to a New Year Resolution theme. I’ll talk about my ‘resolutions’ in the end of this post.
But first let’s catch up!
- I had a good start to the very short work week on Monday. I send out a few emails just to receive out-of-office replys from everyone. I also scheduled trainings and networking events for the next 6 month for all my clients. But the most important accomplishments was to go to the next door department store to get us an office blender. Priorities friends, priorities! This resulted in not less than 3 smoothies for me in 2 days!
- Tuesday evening was completely consumed by a ‘quick’ ‘Just Married’ sign craft. Guys can you relate here? Whenever one of us says something stupid like ‘this won’t take too long’ or ‘this should be quick and easy’ the task will indeed take very long and will drag on forever and challenge you in unforeseen ways? Naw? Only us? Well this happened again on Tuesday obviously. I was the stupid cow who said it this time. So okay… After I had to trash the first two attempts (seriously how difficult can it get to make such a sign???) we finally succeeded with this bunting. Should I mention that it took us 3,5 h in total? But whatever. Anything for the boy when he ties the knot.
- On Wednesday we got up in the dawn of the day, dressed up and drove the one hour to the apartment of our friends. We got some coffee and kept them company while they got ready. Then after an hour we took off to the registry office and met up with their family. It was a very small wedding – just parents, siblings with partners and the bride’s maid of honor and her boyfriend, Stefan and I. The ceremony was unpretentious yet heart-warming and the registrar was such a lovely lady! I was very happy that he chose me to be his ‘best man’. Later we went to an Italian restaurant and had pizza. A wedding after my own heart!
- Thursday was a slow day. We just hung out and I played around with my new camera lense. There’s still much to learn and we definitely need a little more one-to-one time. And I remembered again why I hate to take pictures when there’s any kind of glass involved. Stupidly the Tiramisu required it!
