Hi there party people!
It’s Monday and today I have only 13 workdays left until my contract ends and also in exact 3 weeks I am going to be on vacation!!! I am cheery and bouncy and I am not entirely sure if it’s the excitement or the three cups of coffee I already had before 9 am. Probably a mix of both but who cares.
Last week I told you that I’ve had a very very social week and this week I am going to tell you that I’ve had the complete opposite! And it was fabulous. I’ve had my antsy moments but if I’d have to sum up my entire week in two words it would be coffee and TV (as you can see from the very clever title of my post). I am also humming the Blur song now while I am typing this. I know my buddy Meg who I am also linking up with can relate.
So I already mentioned last week that we had a super duper long weekend in Germany. Or Bavaria for that matter. And Stefan and I made the best use of it. Actually we hung out most days on the couch and did nothing but watch TV.
As the weather wasn’t the best there was also no need to regret anything
So I watched an entire season of Friends while stuffing my face with leftover pizza
And we started and got sucked into The Blacklist on Netflix
But on one of the nice afternoons we grabbed a cup of coffee and went on a long walk through the woods and down to the river. It was so pretty albeit too hot in the sun. Hence we ended up walking in t-shirts an carrying out warm jackets. It was nice to move and talk a bit and enjoy the fresh air, coffee and sun nevertheless.
Every day of the last week (besides the ones we spent at work) we had a solid brunch. Usually leftovers pimped up with bacon and eggs. This has become my favorite meal!
Stefan had an appointment and an evening out with a friend planned. So I hung out at home working on two blog posts
I cooked and shot a blog recipe one afternoon and it was wonderful. Not only did I really enjoy the food I also loved to do something creative again. Here is a sneak peek of the recipe. I hope to get it up sometime this week.
This also sparked the idea of a blog post about food photography I posted last week. To be completely honest I always shied away to write anything about photography. I am by no means an expert and there are millions of people out there who are way better suited to give advice than I am. But I have worked on figuring out my own style over the last couple of weeks and I am so pleased with the outcome that I thought this might be something I could share. And because it’s such a personal process I feel a bit less like an imposter 😛
I was still a little bit social though. One afternoon I had coffee with my mum and aunt. It was nice to catch up and spend some quality time with them. It just doesn’t happen often enough.
Then my dad, his partner and one of her daughters came to have dinner with us. Stefan made Lasagna and it was a huge hit.
We also took some time for very necessary travel preperations. I swear that one of my worst traits is procrastination. I am a master procrastinator and it drives me crazy. But actually this time it worked out so well. After checking different car options for weeks, playing with different dates and timeframes we found the best bargain ever yesterday. Cheaper than we could ever have imagined and no giving back the old one, getting a new one two days later scenarios that all our former plans had included. I don’t know why but the price had dropped by about 60% in the last week. Maybe that’s also a reason I am so cheery now. We have now booked one car of three and a half weeks and also don’t need another flight we had considered to take. Winning in all areas! Road trip here we come!
Next thing to do it making a packing list. As Stefan is horrible with clothes shopping (I actually think he hasn’t really stocked up his wardrobe remarkly in about 4 years) I did some online shopping for him. I hate buying women’s clothes but somehow I LOVE browsing the men’s section. Let’s see how he likes my selection…
After neglecting adulting for quite a bit I started to catch up. So cleaning, grocery shopping, going to see my doctor for new prescriptions and making an appoinment for my yearly check-up in January, doing the laundry and preparing for a few awkward phone calls I have to make this week also happened. Seriously why do people not reply to emails and subsequently force me to call them??? This week will all be under the umbrella of adulting. I want to go on vacation with NO things on my to-do-list!
So today I am going to have a meeting with colleagues to prepare for my last two weeks and then I am going to tie up loose ends. Is it good or bad that I am very excited for this contract to be over soon?
