It’s October! How fast did that come?
And it seems like the weather is trying to catch up with the season as rapidly as possible. Fall is picking up and it’s foggy, a little rainy and very very colorful outside. It’s my favorite season and I couldn’t love it more. It’s time to snuggle up at home and have a cozy cup of tea.
After complaining about having a cold last week it became a lot worse. In fact I developed a full-blown flu with a lot of couching, sneezing, headaches and sleepless nights because of all of the conditions mentioned above. Do you know this that when you’re sick, that even your skin and hair hurts? Well I had the pleasure to experience both.
Luckily things are better now and besides a few cold symptoms and a little coughing I am back to normal. Luckily as I need to finish my thesis this week. Last week I couldn’t really work on it.
I managed to write my abstract though. I need to write it in both German and English and it took me a day each to finish it. And in either language I feel like it sounds horrible. The joys of abstract writing!
I had to sort out a few things for my PhD. Because I am horrible with admin stuff like that I waited until the very last day to go to the PhD office and hand in my paperwork. As I was still feeling sick I wanted to do it first thing in the morning and then go back to my cozy couch. But because I am always so wonderfully prepared I didn’t realize they would only be open in the afternoon. So I spent 5 hours in Munich killing time.
Starbuck became my sanctuary and as I didn’t have my laptop with me I just read. It was nice. I put a remarkable dent in my new self-help book (who would have thought I’d read self-help books one day) and took some notes.
I am slowly figuring out a few things about my favorite work style and my relationship with work and it’s pretty interesting. So far it doesn’t make things any easier though. I wonder if there is a job out there that makes it possible to combine my very contradicting needs. Once again I am complicated. I feel like things with me are never straightforward.
We went to our friend’s birthday party. They just came back from a three week US trip and showed us some pictures. We pretty much spoke the entire evening about our various travel adventures and it was a blast! My feet are getting more itchy but I can cope with it as it’s less that two months now until our big fat Australian road trip. I seriously can’t wait!
For now I am reviewing and editing my thesis, wait until my father-in-law bit by bit gives me his reviews to edit it again and slowly but surely finish it for good. I am looking forward to the time when there is actually another topic I can talk about!
