People I have something special for you. Special in many regards. Though the most obvious reason may be how ridiculously quick and easy it is to whip up a batch of this Spicy Peach Peanut Sauce. All you need is 4 ingredients and 3 min of your time! Get yourself something to dip, a spoon or even just wash your fingers because it is that good! Promise!
Let’s talk insanity for a quick second.
I just realised that this year I have posted exactly one recipe so far. We have mid-June already! JUNE!!! Even more shockingly was the realisation that the recipe I posted prior to the one in February was this one. It dates back to October! OCTOBER!!!
Well so if I continue to pump out the recipes at this pace I’ll for sure make it to three recipes in an entire year. I am giving myself a very sarcastic imaginary back pat for that. I’ll keep it at that because I am sitting at Starbucks and that might be a little too odd.
Anyways it’s already summer here in Germany and summer’s here in full force. Meteorological, calendrical and quite literal as well. As a result it is pretty hot. I am not a fan of the heat. Especially when I have to work in my stuffy office. But thank goodness for the option to make an air-conditioned Starbucks my office for the day!
Yet I am a huge fan of the side effects of summer. I love long evenings on the balcony after the sun has set. And also the abundance of fresh berries, melons and peaches in the supermarket thanks to the warm summer days.
So let’s talk Spicy Peach Peanut Sauce.
I have a thing for making savory dips, sauces and marinades with any kind of summer fruit. Strawberries made it into this marinade, I put blueberries in the limelight in this recipe and even cherries got crowned for being the star in this recipe.
So giving peaches a spicy new look was kinda the consequential step, right? Right! The inspiration for this recipe actually came when I made Bellini and had some pureed vineyard peaches leftover I decided to spoon while cleaning the kitchen. While the fresh and sweet peach puree was kinda nice I found myself craving it to be a bit creamier, saltier and especially hotter. Still no sweet tooth here!
So basically the recipe had written itself. After some basic experimentation aka measuring ingredients and tossing them in my Nutri Bullet, blending and tweaking the measurements a bit this Spicy Peach Peanut Sauce Recipe was born.
The sauce has a summery sweetness because of the fruity base made of peaches. I love to use the vineyard ones but any peach will do as long as it’s sweet. Hence just make sure to use the ripest ones you can get.
Due to the chili sauce there is a nice little hot and spicy touch to the sauce. Whereas the garlic is the necessary link between the chili and the sweetness provided by the peaches. Because of the galic the flavors in the peanut sauce balance out nicely. If you are not into very hot foods and sauces I’d recommend to start with 1 T of chili sauce and add another one if you feel like the peanut sauce could use a little heat.
The last ingredient is the peanut butter. People, I am obsessed with peanut butter at the moment. The salty and crunchy one to be precise and this is the one I’d use for this recipe as well. Obviously because it tastes great. But also because it’s a game changer when it comes to the texture of the sauce. First and foremorst it adds a certain smoothness and creamyness to the sauce that makes it ideal for dipping. And second it adds a nice little crunch factor. And who isn’t loving a little crunch here and there?
The Spicy Peach Peanut Sauce is perfect for bringing to any BBQ because it tastes phantastic with meat as well as veggies. Basically anything you want to dip goes along great with the peanut sauce. I personally dipped chicken tenders (as you can see on the pictures here and which is a personal favorite), snack pretzels, carrot sticks, a spoon and even my fingers in it.
- 2-4* ripe peaches (vineyard, white or regular peaches)
- 4 T peanut butter (I used crunchy & salty)
- 2 T chili sauce
- 1 clove of garlic
- Wash the peaches and cut them in quarters, removing the stone in the process
- Give the peaches, garlic and chili sauce in a blender and blend until smooth
- Add the peanut butter and stir in or blend in. If you use crunchy peanut butter blend in very carefully to keep the crunch
- * depending on the size of the peaches. If using vineyard peaches I'd recommedn 4 peaches as they tend to be a little smaller. For regular peaches I'd go for 2-3 depending on the size
- Store in the fridge for up to 3 days
