Before we dive straight into today’s post I have a big fat HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to my lovely husband. Today four years ago this gorgeous man asked me to marry him in the most typical way possible and after staring at him in shock for quite a while I obviously said yes. Fast forward 4 years I haven’t had any regrets for a single moment even though he sometimes drives me bonkers. But I guess that’s what love and marriage is all about.
So here’s to a few more decades of happiness! No matter what comes next I am excited to share it with you β₯
Okay soppy is over and fast forward 4 years it’s also Monday and hence I am going to share some tidbits from last week. Figuratively and also quite literally as I have realized that all the pictures I took last week were food pictures. So let’s get listing and link up with lovely Meg for a little review of last weeks happenings.
- Work was again a bit on the crazy side last week with two long days and some coaching that again took much longer than anticipated. Seriously what’s that with these groups this year? They all need much more time than the groups from the past few years. I even had a skype group coaching. Three clients in my office and one in Texas. It was fun and I was really impressed how well video chatting worked for that matter.
- I even got some thesis related reading done. I keep on telling myself that I need to start writing now. I just need to start and then things will fall into place. But I still hesitate. Queen of procrastination here!
- We made ice cream for the first time π Coconut Coffee Ice Cream. It tasted a bit like soft serve. It was good but I was not love love love. But I am keen on trying more recipes and eventually getting creative myself.
- I went to Crossfit once and was signed up for another class that was cancelled last minute. I count it as a win because I was prepared to go. Don’t argue with me on that, you’ll lose!
- Stefan made us Cocktails the other night and it was glorious. This man is a bartender. I haven’t had a craving for fruity Cocktails in a very long time but last week it kinda hit me and he made me Bailey’s Colada. Yes, that’s a thing.
- I managed to get out two posts last week again. I’d love to post more but I have not enough energy nor do I have to say something that needs to be said immediately so I am happy with two posts and don’t try to put any pressure on myself. It’s not healthy neither is it necessary at all!
- Though I was really happy to bring these Gnocchi in Sage Butter your way. It was a long time coming but oh so worth it!
- Stefan brought home the flu on Wednesday and is almost knocked out ever since. So it was up to me to feed him, pitty him, clean and do the groceries all by myself.
- On Friday we had planned to check out Bottles and Burgers – a new restaurant in town. As this fell trough due to the flu I brought bottles and burgers home instead. BBQ Burgers with caramelized Whiskey Onions which are saved to be shared with you at some point.
- I am on a huge bagle bender lately. Last week I had a weird dream about bagels and so I had to get some and make me an epic bagel sandwich. The egg was not runny enough sadly. So this means I obviously need to practice a little π
- I made Oreo Granola Bars for the 700th time this weekend and finally finally finally I got them right! Now I contemplate if I should even post them because quite frankly it’s not really my recipe anymore. I cried for help so many times that Arman has contributed much more to this recipe than I. But they are delicious and that’s all that counts, right?
- Besides the food shenanigans Stefan spent the majority of our weekend on the couch chatting, watching TV and pitying ourselves – first flu symptoms over here as well. But I drug myself up to the eyeballs with medicine so fingers crossed it will pass soon.
- I also did a lot of online shopping. I need a few things for spring. Most of my cloths are so old! All new things are workout attire.
- I had a long skype date with Meg. We were making plans for the summer and catching up on our exessive lives.
- Meanwhile Stefan made pizza dough that resulted in tada…. pizza!
This delicious week is over and another one is starting. I am working from home now and fighting the flu. Fingers crossed this will pass soon.
Happy start to the week π
Arman is great! It seems that whenever I’m looking for a recipe to use up said ingredient, he comes out with what I need. I also did a bit of online shopping last week (thanks tax return) so I’m looking forward to some presents in the mail π
Happy anniversary!
Thank you π
I got my ‘presents’ this morning and I am always amazed by how the same size can vary between ‘I can’t breath in this’ and ‘let’s just wear it together at the same time’ luckily I ordered so much that I like and fit into a few items π
1) Happy Anniversary! I’m thinking between those cocktails (Bailey’s can be a colada?! Swoon) and that pizza… there’s no denying you caught yourself a winner.
2) Definitely not arguing: The biggest accomplishment with any work out is the mindset of even planning to go. The rest is hogwash.
3) I’m taking on more of your mindset about blogging from now on. Thank you.
4) I have also dreamt about bagels and then obviously woke to up go buy some at the store. Our sleeping sub conscience need to be listened to.
Have a lovely week – I hope the flu symptoms don’t amount to much!
1) Thank you! I am sure I did π
2) I bet even refueling is a thing after these kinds of workouts…
3) You do you, that’s what counts
4) Oh god it’s so bad! I inhale them…
Will do my best, though I am actually right now sitting in my kitchen sipping tea with a giant scarf wrapped around my sore throat π Hope your week is better!
Ah, bummer both Stefan and now also you are feeling under the weather. Fingers crossed you wonβt fully catch it and he’ll be back to health soon! Being sick apparently doesn’t change anything about his kitchen skills because wow, that pizza looks amazing. As do those granola bars and I don’t usually say that about any kind of bar. Just call them a blogger cooperation project and I’m sure Arman will agree.
When is your thesis due again? Like I said way back I’d be happy to help with the proof-reading :)!
He’s definitely a keeper and not only because of his cooking skills π
Oh don’t mention the thesis – I am in full procrastination mode and I am already flirting with the idea of kicking off some blog improvement work again. I am soooo bad!!!!!
totally need that oreo granola bar recipe! These babies look addicting!!
Haha thanks. I must admit we polished off the whole pan in two days though I was kinda over my oreo phase after about 700 trials π
Happy Anniversary!!! Hooray for you two, sick at home with the flu together. Ha! Now that’s marriage right there.
You totally had me with the title of this post: the Foodie edition and with that bagel sandwich, yolk porn or not. I’ll eat anything on a bagel these days, and I also appreciate the gnocchi post. I’m hoping to get to the market this week, the one which sells my glorious gnocchi and I have full intentions of picking some up and then having the Hubby make this for me. π
Those Oreo granola bars look glorious. Your swirl game is on point.
Start writing that thesis. Rip the Band Aid off. π
Thank you π Yes it’s perfect. He cooks the tea and reminds me of taking my medicine and I feed us.
Tell the hubby it’s really easy and takes only a couple of minutes. That might be a good selling point π And definitely add parmesan!
Oh god the swirls hahaha let’s just say there’s only a selection of granola bars on this picture π
Congratulations on your anniversary!
So did you get an ice cream maker? I’ve always thought about getting myself one of those, but they take up space, and I feel like I wouldn’t use it super-often. Still…homemade ice cream is the best! What kind did you get?
Thank you π
The ice cream machine is an UNOLD. Never heard of that before. The space was an issue but I will find some. I make my kitchen an ice cream parlor π
You had me at baileys colada and BBQ burger with whiskey onions! You just seem to post everything I want to eat! And anything with whiskey gets me excited!
Good go for the first attempt at ice cream and I’m sure you will know exactly what changes you will want to make for the next batch.
Happy anniversary to you both! You really do seem to be the perfect match. Hope Stefan feels better soon and that you don’t pick it up too badly!
When I decided to try making whiskey onions I actually thought of you. I would be so easy to cook for you π
Thank you <3 I always think the same of you and David.
Happy Anniversary to you both!
If that was your first try of making icecream you did a seriously good job! I’ve only made icecream a couple of times because I can never fit the icecream maker bowl in my freezer and no-churn icecreams never seem to have the consistency I want! Time for a freezer clean out, I think!
Thank you π
I have a tiny freezer but luckily this ice cream maker has a freezing funktion so you can just transfer it to a smaller bowl later. I’ll definitely try a few more recipes and Ben and Jerry’s is next on the list π
I am officially the worst.
Actually, you are the worst!!!! As if you didn’t tell me it was your anniversary! That’s okay, I forgive you. Just make Stefan some cottage cheese ice cream.
For two people who’ve been under the weather, you’ve most certainly eaten well π I had the biggest bagel craving the other day (thanks to you) but the store only had these silly bagels with the insides scooped out….to make them low carb.
Also those bars. YES. Those pictures are amazing. I want the icing. and the cookies. and the floppy failed ones.
Oh gosh you should have seen the look he gave me when I mentioned cottage cheese ice cream. He is definitely not a fan π
THEY SCOOP OUT BAGELS FOR SAVING CARBS??????? This is crime! I mean seriously???
I actually saved the sloppy ones and they turned out exactly right! One last attempt to recreate them now and if it works this recipe is good to go. I actually think you contributed like 80%. I’ll have to call them Arman’s Oreo Granola Bars π
