Maybe I should have put ‘make smoothies everyday’ on my New Year’s resolution list. Admittedly for this I would have needed to make a New Year’s resolution list in the first place but that’s a different story.
What I try to say is that I am killing it on the smoothie front since Christmas and it would be just beautiful to have a goal I am smashing like this set somewhere formal. Maybe I should just pretend to have a New Year’s resolution list with this one goal on it. Okay, I do it!
Gosh I feel so accomplished!
My newest obsession – and yes I have a different smoothie obsession about once a week – is this creamy and rich Chocolate Mocha Cheesecake Smoothie!
From the first sip on I knew this smoothie was going to be one of my favorites! I love the rich and creamy texture. I love how milkshakey the smoothie turns out. And I just love the complexity of flavors. This Chocolate Mocha Cheesecake Smoothie is a full of healthy ingredients and even breakfast approve cheesecakey deliciousness!
I must admit that I always shy away from ‘completely healthy’, ‘good for you’ recipes that promise to taste ‘exactly like’ _____________ (insert decadent treat)!
But I am definitely not going down that road! I would never proclaim that this smoothie is ‘just like the real deal’ and that you will never ever crave a slice of cheesecake ever again because your love for this smoothie will be so earth shattering. I mean I freaking love cheesecake – the real one – and I am never going to give up on it for a damn smoothie.
But what I want to say is that this smoothie is a healthy way to enjoy a snack that in taste and texture reminds me of chocolate cheesecake. The Chocolate Mocha Cheesecake Smoothie has a crazy amount of dark cocoa powder in it which is apparently even a superfood – whatever that means. Yet as much as I love me my cocoa powder this alone wouldn’t make me swoon. What makes me swoon though is pairing the cocoa powder with cottage cheese! People if you haven’t tried that before you’re missing out on life. Hands down this is an obsession that’s going strong for months now! Thanks for that dude!
If you have a look at the list of ingredients the ones that are more juicy or on the liquid side of the scale are sparse compared to my other smoothie recipes. Hence a more cakey texture. The cottage cheese gives the cheesecakey flavor kick and also a solid portion of protein. Next to being amongst my favorite foods ever what should be a selling point for adding it to EVERYTHING on its own.
I make this smoothie when a dessert is all I want for breakfast!
I make this smoothie when I am hungry but need chocolate STAT!
I make this smoothie when a green smoothie just feels too green!
I make this smoothie when I have bought 13 cups of cottage cheese and some of them are well past their best-before date! Again!
I make this smoothie when I have a craving for cottage cheese and I have no chance to get my hands on the real deal anytime soon!
- 1/2 large ripe banana, frozen
- 1 cup cottage cheese
- 3 T cocoa powder
- 1 T agave syrup
- 1/2 cup milk - I use almond or macadamia nut milk
- 1 strong double shot espresso
- Give all the ingredients into a blender or food processor and mix until creamy and fluffy
- For the best texture result I recommend to blend for at least 2 min
- I used extra dark and regular cocoa powder. Both works fine but make sure to use a really strong tasting espresso when choosing extra dark cocoa powder
Have a lovely weekend friends! I have exciting plans to work on my photography!
Any exciting weekend plans?
Do you like smoothies that resemble a cake or dessert?
