Oh gosh time doesn’t fly in my neck of the woods at the moment. I wish it was the weekend already but there two more days to go. I try a different route: Yay!!!! ← Okay reverse psychology doesn’t work on me. It’s still Naaaaawwwwww!
But anyways it’s Thursday and I want to sweeten and shorten the day with a little nonsense. So perfect time for linking up with Amanda for getting all the distracting bubbling thoughts out (loud) of my brain and onto my screen.
Snapchat – I get into it and really like it. I just have to restrain myself a little because clearly not EVERYTHING is worth snapping (??? snapping, is this right? or is is snapchatting???). But it’s fun. More fun than Instagram actually. I mean I love love love Instagram but Snapchat allows you to share the uglier, more unstyled moments of life. And seriously I am a nosy person (and strongly believe every blogger is) so this is my kinda plattform. So if we’re not snapchat friends already, add me and let’s become friends 🙂
SEO – I am a strong advocate of the ‘ignorance is bliss’ philosophy! Not in each and every situation, like when you have health issues or mental issueas this is NOT the way to go. Believe me, I learned the hard way!!! But when it comes to a lot of other situations I experienced that things can work out perfectly fine though I ignore them. Oh yeah taxes can’t be ignored as well! But I digress….. So for the first 2+ years of my life as a blogger I blissfully ignored the very existence of SEO or the need for it. Since I went self-hosted a few weeks back I kinda got more in the whole ‘behind the scenes’ part of blogging and to be honest, it freaks me out completely. THERE IS JUST SO MUCH TO LEARN!!!!! Most surprisingly while I like to get into the technical part, SEO and any kind of stats analystics completely overwhelme me!
Pet Peeves of an English speaking German – I have two major pet peeves when it comes to translations. Or to be precise German versions of English texts, TV shows, movies etc….
1. I can’t stand – aka wanna jump up and down, hug and rock myself for comfort and tear my hair out all at the same time – when I read or hear a really bad translation. Like when the translations is technically correct but sounds just wrong in German. Or when by the words you can tell it was intended to be a pun the translator didn’t get or ignored and by that just ruined the whole scene. Or like yesterday when they translated popcorn to ‘Puffmais’! Seriously popcorn is the term to use here as well and not once in my life before have I heared anybody say ‘Puffmais’!
2. I find it maybe even more mind-boggling when they ‘translate’ a movie title by using a different yet English title for the movie in Germany. Mean Girls for example became Girls Club! Why oh why Germany??? I really try to get it!
Okay I mean I am not perfect either and I totally get that I am overly dramatic but I always thought that people who are studying a language so thoroughly must love this language. So why don’t they care enough to convey the content as precisely as possible?
This thing – I seriously don’t know how to call it (in any language) so I just go with this thing. It hates me – aka I am too dumb to use it correctly! We bought it on Saturday, Stefan installed it on Sunday and it felt the need to water me completely for 6! times already. It’s worse than cleaning a spoon. One time I even had to change my shirt! It’s a learning curve 😛
My phone screen – Judging from the state of my phone screen my fingers must be dirty all the time. I mean I wash my hands a few times a day and I cleaned the screen properly 3 days ago and yet it’s icky again. Maybe it’s all the sticky Christmas sweets. Of which I actually don’t eat that much when I think about it!
Christmas sweets – This year is a very odd year for me. In summer I didn’t crave fruit. Vegetables took a backseat in my diet and now I don’t want any Christmas sweets. It’s so bad that I actually compiled a nice list of things I’d prefer over any cookie right now. From me to you tomorrow! Get a sneak peak in form of these Spicy Baked Meatballs stuffed with Cheese!
You and SEO – love story, hate story, no story?
Are you craving the Christmas Sweets?
