Today I feel a bit under the weather. Luckily I have no appointments today so I decided to stay at home and do my thing from here.
Autumn is really here now. It’s cold enough outside that I can use my balcony as a second fridge at least at night. It’s good. Especially when you have such a tiny fridge as ours. I may sound like a broken record but love this time of the year. Snuggling up, sipping hot comforting beverages and adjust the pace of life. The time of go go go feels over and I am more feeling in line with life, pace-wise at least.
Stefan will be on a business trip for 4 days next week and I am torn between meeting with friends I haven’t seen in a while and shutting out my environment and just stay on my couch all weekend with a book and relish my time alone. Decisions, decisions!
But I am ahead. Let’s have a look at last week, shall we?
After my epic soreness from two weeks back I decided to take it light in the beginning. I went to Crossfit twice and though it was challenging both times it wasn’t unmanageable anymore. It even was kind of fun. I try to go three times this week and work my way up to four to five times over the next weeks. Let’s see how this works.
I still don’t want to say that there was no soreness included. 70 wall balls shredded my thighs and 60 weighted walking lunges did not do/ did do a favor to my glutes. However you want to see it!
Work annoyed me last week. My colleague was off sick for all week and that doubled my workload. Not my actual workload but covering for her took so much time! I undertook some of her interviews and had to keep all three interns entertained. It’s okay of course and she always covers for me as well when I need her. And to be honest she does more of the dreaded project administration stuff than I do but it sucks when you can’t do your work because hers is more pressing than mine.
But I had a few good moments as well. I started interviewing for the next program starting in January and though applications come in slowly the women I was interviewing so far seem more than good client material.
I also started the round of group feedback coaching I always do with my clients mid-program and so far the groups I have been working with please me a lot. They work together great, have established a good relationship with their mentors and I got nice feedback as well. That way I don’t mind 10 h workdays as much anymore!
Even though I didn’t mind them so much that way they drain all energy from me nonetheless. Wednesday was particularly intense and when I came home 7.30-ish all I was capable of was lying on the couch and stare at the TV. But compared to Stefan I work practically part-time. When he came home around 10 pm we did something we haven’t done for at least 7 years. We went to have dinner at Mc Donalds. I had chicken nuggets with sweet sour sauce and stole a few fries from him.
Luckily at some point the weekend rolled around. My cousin and her boyfriend invited us for dinner to pick our brains for some USA recommendations. They go next week and haven’t planned anything but flying to NY and then back home from Vancouver three weeks later. I would die.
On Saturday I finally went to the hairdresser’s. Ugly moments, unpretty realisations and utter relief for a presentable hairdo included.
Sunday was a really work intensive day. I ran out of nutbutter last week and this cuts me off of maybe 90% of my breakfast and snack options. So this weekend had to be THE weekend to stock up again. I started to roast nuts early in the morning and then worked my way through different sorts of nuts during the day. Hazelnut Butter, Almond Butter and Drippy White Chocolate Macadamia Nutbutter.
I also made one of our go-to quick meals which takes only 20 min to make and is also one of Stefan’s favorites. It’s a Creamy Satay Chicken with Mie Noodles. So delicious! Leftovers for today’s lunch included. Don’t miss out on this deliciousness I am going to share with you this week. Oh yeah did I mention you can swap the chicken for more veggies and by this completely veganise the dish?
I also made snack balls for
today the week and Healthy Slowcooker Salted Caramel Mocha Oatmeal for breakfast for today and tomorrow.
This is only a tiny tiny meal prep but it took me all day. Kudos to those who do this every week. I can’t warm to the concept! In the evening we had dinner with my dad. He and his partner moved to a house recently but now they have major problems with water damage due to some unprofessional installations. Sucky!
Also sucky is my throat. I am drugging myself to the eyeballs with cold medicine and hope I’ll be fine again by tomorrow. Now I am tackling my emails and then go to work a little on thesis related stuff. Finally I feel some pressure!
