Ciao bellezza! Let’s start the week Italian, shall we? I am feeling in a caprese kind of mood and I am a little sad that I don’t have one of these sandwiches left to dig in now. But never mind, the mozzarella and tomatoes are only one trip to the groceries away and luckily I have a well stocked supermarket right next to my building. So tonight is the night…..
But I digress….
It’s Monday and I feel a little chatty today. Let’s have a bit of random talk and I am going to feed you some bits and pieces from my last week as well. And if you’re really nice to me I am also going to show you a little recipe spoiler of what’s coming your way this week. If you follow me on Instagram you might have already had a sneak peek though. I can’t keep any secrets for too long. At least not my own!
Sometimes I wonder if there’s anyone out there who really gets all the movies and TV references I constantly make here or if it’s just me giggling not so silently to myself. Just me? It’s okay. I should get a life myself and don’t hang out so much in front of the TV! I get, it, I get it!
Which brings me to the fact that I really shouldn’t watch 3 episodes of Daria first thing Monday morning. It makes me so…. edgy! And it definitely doesn’t enhance my social abilities much either. Clients don’t like to be treated with sarcasm and my assistants don’t really appreciate it either. They just don’t know how to take me then. For my next job I should definitely look for something more personality fitting. Maybe I should aspire to be a peanut! It’s a Nutty, Nutty, Nutty World.
Okay now that I’ve you all at the point where you deliberate whether you should call the social psychiatric service for me let’s get back to be all serious. So far I am still a realist. (Okay now it’s getting out of hand!)
Let’s talk vacation!
It’s only 10 work days until I go to Italy! 10 work days is not so much yet it feels like forever to me! But it’s always the same it feels like forever and then in the end you work more hours the week prior to your vacation as there’s so much shit that has to happen before you go because work will literally fall apart when you’re gone and nobody ever gets the stuff right when you don’t do it yourself….. Okay scrap that. I hate that kind of twisted, self-absorbed thinking. You will never properly relax on holiday when you believe the sun is only rising because of you singing to it every morning! But nothing wrong with getting all the important things done before you go either! Then I am going to ban work from my brain for 5 weeks!
And I am sure this will help!
Let’s talk a little weekend shenanigans 🙂 On Friday, after procrastinating work for more than half a day and then really working a solid few hours – YAY – I found some time to play around with my camera. Stefan is out so much at the moment I have way too much time to myself. I get so easily bored. But it’s a good thing when I channel my energy to my camera. I still have to learn so much and the possibilities are endless. I killed two birds with one stone and decided to try to get some good shots from a Moscow Mule 😉 Next thing is to really tackle photo editing.
On Saturday I got my nail polish removed for vacation and then in the afternoon we met friends in Munich for Pizza, wine and Tiramisu! I love to go to this place. Especially because they make a wicked Tiramisu and exactly know what they have to say to make a women come back 😉
I was happy that we made it to meet before our vacation. It’s been a while and it’s a shame as the guy – Steve – is my best friend (close 2nd after Stefan) for almost 15 years now. I was also reminded why I love this guy so much. When I told him that it was Harry Potter’s Birthday on Friday his only response was: “I know. He turned 35!”Later on the train ride back (we were on different trains) we all compared our Patroni. Steve and I both got Stag! Of course! My husband – the overachiever – got a Phoenix.
On Sunday we had the girls over for baking muffins. Victoria our 2-year old was there for the first time and with three kids the kitchen gets overly crowded. We ended up decorating the muffins on the living room floor.
As much as I love the girls – and I really do – I am always so glad when we can bring them back home. We both also had to take a nap after dropping them off at their parent’s. I can’t imagine to be a parent at the moment. Like not at all.
After my nap I had a little one-women kitchen party and fine-tuned this recipe:
Cheesy Mexican Stuffed Baguette
Perfect for bringing to a BBQ, Party or just to treat yourself to a delicious and healthy dinner with lunch leftover potential! Stay tuned.
I am at work all bright and early because our new intern starts today! My inbox is full of annoyance and my to-do list just tripled over the last 20 minutes. Just yay! But as I already mentioned that might be the usual pre-vacation craze.
My current keep-me-sane-wishful-thinking includes a masterplan to save up money for a year or two and then quit work and just travel and not come back ever again. Any ideas how I can convince my husband to join my little dellusion?
Have a great day and a good start to the week!
