It’s a freaking hot day though it’s technically still morning we are already facing about 30° C /86° F! Which means the office is a fucking sauna. Which means it’s basically punishment to work here. If it wasn’t for Crossfit tonight I would have stayed at home. Tomorrow I definitely will! It’s not that my apartment is any cooler than the office but at least I have access to unlimited cold drinks and smoothies and also nobody cares when I work in my underwear!
Okay but now let’s have a look at my day yesterday with a focus on all the food! I promise there it not a single sandwich in this post. I spared the sandwiches for this one and that one! Originally I intended to show you a day in Berlin but when I flipped through my pics I realized that I showed you all the good ones already here. So instead you get yesterday 😉
I got up and after fixing the coffee machine I had my usual coffee along with one of those S’mores Protein Bars! I have only limited Quest Bar experience but I certainly know that those are WAY better! I always love to have some snack bars at hand especially for breakfast on a day when I work out in the morning. Some energy without a too full stomach.
Then I went to Crossfit where I almost died! First I smashed my old Deadlift PR performing 8 Deadlifts at 65 kg. This has been my former 1 RM 🙂 If me legs had been capable of dancing I might have danced a little jig there. And then there was the WOD. Seriously I have never been so close to dropping out during a Workout. We had 3 rounds of 400m run followed by 10 man makers. If you wonder what a man maker might be, I’ll fill you in
I must admit I had something different in mind! I was giggling a bit but since nobody else showed any signs of immaturity I tried to muster a straight face. And on a sidenote, it was horrible! I used 10 kg dumbbells and died a painful and slow death. My cool down was heavy breathing and trying to make my body stop sweating. It was unreal! Right after the workout I had a second snack bar.
When I arrived at the office I had lunch whilst scanning my emails! Lunch was a bowl of basmati rice, baby spinach, yellow and read cocktail tomatoes, humus, avocado and mixed beans in chimichurry. Oh yes please!I love basmati rice. I’ve had way too much brown rice lately but after my rice feast in Berlin I am all back on the basmati train 🙂
Then I saw an email from one of the guest speakers I had invited for a workshop in the evening who backed out. Okay she was sick but noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! She was my key-note speaker! I scheduled the workshop according to her availabilities. So I decided to cancel. I spend the next 4 hours sending emails and calling my participants. Baaah! I hate it when something like this happens. Now I have to set up a new workshop. But in the end it was a blessing in disguise. Not only did I leave the office very early – remember, sauna! – I also got the chance to go to my cousin’s boyfriend’s birthday dinner. But I am ahead.
When I came home I was craving something cold and creamy so much. I had some strawberries in the fridge that were already past their prime and so perfect for a smoothie. I topped the deliciousness with some chocolate drops and roasted marshmallows. PERFECTION!
Around 6 pm I hopped on the train to Munich and met up at Kreta Grill, a tiny Greek restaurant with awesome fresh food. They don’t even have a regular menu. They cook depending on the produce they find on the market and so you never know what you will get to eat when you book a table.
Stefan and I started with pita bread, olives and green pepper in herb infused olive oil. As a main dish I had gyros with tzatziki and Stefan some kind of meatballs. He ate my leftovers and I got to try his, too. Very delicious food. We ordered very late and did not eat before 10 pm hence the bad lightning. But it was amazingly warm and we sat at tables on the sidewalk and it was just a very nice and cozy evening. Stefan and I also had some white wine and I am amazingly grateful for being wise enough to pass on the ouzo. Getting up this morning was painful enough even without hard alcohol. As a dessert we also got some amazingly sweet and perfectly chilled watermelon.
Today I have a Deadlift back. Means my lower back is a little stiff. But nothing that can’t be fixed by some painful rolling and a little stretching. 6 more hours until I can leave the office. Working at this temperatures sucks. But according to the weather forecast we have a warm and sunny weekend lined up. Perfect as we will spend it in Narnia <3
