After three wonderful weeks of eating my way through another blogger’s archives I decided to take a little break. It’s been a wonderful experience so far and I am already looking so much for what’s coming next. But live has caught up with me and cooking 4 meals on one day was not an option last week and will certainly not be over the next two. Hence this little break. But watch out I’ll be on board soon again! If you missed those testimonials of three yummy days you can catch up with the rest of us here:
But Wednesday wouldn’t be Wednesday without showing you a full day of food! Lately (if lately is still appropriate) I am on a huge sandwich kick. And I actually think since Meg and I agreed to make sandwichporn a thing or as she much more eloquently calls it ‘the quest for sandwichporn’ it’s gotten worse!
Friday was a funny day. I got up pretty early with a mean headache. So instead of jumping in my car and going to work I decided to stay at home for a little longer. So I edited and published this post, had coffee and the rest of Meg’s granola and tried to get my act together.
Around 9.30 am I realized that staying at home wouldn’t make it better so I left the house and went to work. I worked a little (very little) and when lunch time rolled around I happily attacked my sandwich.
Sliced beef, grilled in Cherry Thyme Marinade with avocado, cheese and Lemon Thyme Butter on Potato Bread! Doesn’t that sound like poetry??? And as a dessert I had some cherries and a Cherry and Brazil Nut Paleo Bar.
The afternoon passed so slowly I spend my time with reading blog posts and sending mails to all the people I was recommended to contact for my control group study. Tedious! But I have to tackle that at some point and this point is before I go on vacation! Also due to the heat wave we’re still on my leg swells like hell right now. Don’t ever get a thrombosis! Veneous valves are not forgiving!
Right before my workout I had a smoothie. One of my favorites!
I went to Crossfit and there directly to the shower where I cooled my legs for about 10 min prior to the workout. It was a tiny bit better afterwards but definitely not fun! Then the class started. I barely survived the front squats, presses and cleans, hated every second of the workout and outsweated this day’s water intake! Awesome as always! In the car I had a second smoothie:
When I came home I was utterly and what felt irrevocably destroyed. I dragged my limp body under the shower and then to the kitchen happy to being able to make me a sandwich. Anything that would have needed more effort than my go to sandwich would have been impossible at this stage. Thanks again Meg for hooking me up with this one! 😉 So I just buttered the bread, added avocado, tomato and a shameless amount of cheese and put it in the oven.
Along this sandwich I watched a little Daria. Between 8 and 8.30 pm I was asleep 😛 I woke up at 1 am when Stefan came home and again at 3.30 am because it was still so hot in the room, open window aside! Luckily it was the gateway night to the weekend!
This was a little glimpse of sandwichporn, expect more epic recipes to come. I am experimenting with a combo that is very very promising! Stay tuned!
Today I am stuck in the office for 10h and this sucks big time. But luckily after today the worst of this week is over. With interviewing on Thursday and working from home on Friday. Not too shabby when I think of it!
Have a great Wednesday, friends! Many thanks to lovely Jenn for hosting WIAW!
