When I get up most mornings I am tired. Our bedroom is pretty hot at night and I usually wake up somewhere around 3 am and can’t go back to sleep for some time. Then I dawdle around the apartment in the morning, have breakfast and drink coffee, watch TV and slowly pack up my stuff. Maybe it would help just to sleep a little longer but I am fairly sure I’d slack the time nonetheless. I have always been an early bird and I still am but I used to be ready in 20 mins in the morning and now I am good when it takes me 1 h 20 mins before I am ready to leave.
Today we’re officially 9 work weeks out! It might sound short but it still feels like a long long time to go! But most of the time I complain about time flying and passing in blur so with this in mind I should muster a relaxed attitude towards these short 9 weeks.
This morning I realized I haven’t done anything for my 4 days in Berlin yet. No flights booked, no hotel booked, nothing! Luckily it’s still a month to go but I hope airfares have not sky-rocket since I checked the last time. And I haven’t decided where I would like to stay either. Close to the university which would be convenient in terms of the conference or rather close to somewhere interesting… decisions decisions. I am going to check that next! But before I do so let me tell you a little about last week!
Have not been the best. After smashing a few PRs I had trouble with my back and decided to take the week off workouts in order to cure the strain completely. I had way too much energy for me being good and I was kinda fidgety all week. Much to the chagrin of my husband who had to bear with me 😛
Work was also relatively slow last week. I tried my best to sort out some stuff but hit wall after wall. So I gave up eventually. But I am not one to complain when work isn’t super crazy all the time. I even left the office twice around 3 pm and I really enjoyed having some time for myself. The crazy will catch up with me soon enough 😛
My last weekend had been jam-packed with activity. This not. Quite the contrary was the case. On Friday afternoon after coming back home from work I jumped on a train to Munich and went shopping. I had some kitchen props on my list I wanted to check out which I did.
Not the best of all pictures but you get to see what I brought home – again much to Stefan’s chagrin. He was more or less reconciled when I promised to make him a Crumble in the new little casserole dishes.
Then I met up with Stefan at O’Julia again. The pizza had left a lasting impression and we wanted a quick bite and glass of wine before we went to a housewarming party at our friend’s new place. But first more pizza shenanigans!
The party was nice and the two have a really nice apartment. Yet we didn’t stay super long and were back home at 1.30 am. The next morning we had some groceries shopping and cleaning stuff to do and then we didn’t do much for the rest of the weekend. We spend most time on the balcony enjoying the sun. It was really good not to have so many plans but relax a little without the need to wear proper pants or make-up. Okay that’s only half true. I had already been at that party in Nike tights on Friday. Life is too short to wear pants that make you feel uncomfortable.
We had a BBQ on Saturday evening again and I put some serious effort in making #sandwichporn a thing 😀 Life can be so good! Stefan did the marinading this time and I was a lucky duck and could sneak the recipe from him. You’ll be treated to the glorious Oregano Ginger Marinade soon! And on a sidenote, aren’t these coasters amazing?
Sunday was mostly consumed by cooking. And I have a confession to make! I wore the pajama pants all day long 😉 But I was pretty fidgety again. Much to my chagrin this time because I was the only one who had to bear with me.
Food, Food, Food
Sandwiches are my kind of food currently. Weather it’s this one

I can’t pick a favorite!
Another staple of mine is lime. Ridiculous as it sounds I add lime to almost all my cooking lately. So it’s not surprising that the two recipes I posted this week both had lime as a key ingredient. Maybe that’s just me compensating for needing a vacation and missing New York so much? And did I mention that EVERYONE is going there at the moment? I mean like every other day one of my fb friends is posting a NYC pic? Means more lime for me please!!!
Make sure though you didn’t miss out on my
It’s not New York on your plates but definitely a nice and fresh summer breeze!
Today I have an appointment with the Law professors to finalize our article. I am so fucking glad when this is over! So fucking glad! I will never ever say yes to such a project. It was so freaking time-consuming and let’s face it, I will never put this article on my list of publications! Okay rant over!
Besides this my day is supposed to be a good one. My colleague Katharina is back from her vacation and I am eating a holy lot of really yummy food – some #sandwichporn included – but more on this on Wednesday 😉 And then I will go back to Crossfit and try to participate pain-free. Fingers crossed!
Have a wonderful start to the week ya all!
