After a week of wonderful weather we face lots of grey and rain here today. But man, this was a weekend. No surprise that I am deadly tired and very unmotivated to work today. And worst is that I messed up with my appointments and if I had thought for a moment I could have worked from home instead of coming in. Oh yeah and I realized when I turned into the parking lot! Yay! Severe attack of first world problems over here! Rant over!
Our last two weeks were pretty cool with two public holidays and now having to face a week of 5 workdays in a row seems unbearable. A sure sign I am in need of a vacation. Give it one month and desperation will kick in. 10 weeks to go and then we’ll head off to Italy with the in-law family for a few days and then the next big USA adventure will begin! I am already way too excited for being good for me and I can’t wait for this to happen!
But we’re still here and life is still to happen in its usual patterns and as it’s a firm goal of mine not to dream too much about the future but enjoy the here and now more let me show you a few glimpses in last week’s events.
Last week has been a week with ups and downs. On the downs part we can list the lumbar vertebra incident and the fact that I had to miss out on Wednesday though it was deadlift day.
On the ups part we can list the fact that my coach was able to fix it up again, progression with double-unders – baby steps and still the BANE OF MY EXISTENCE – and working out with the hubby on Thursday though he didn’t want to. It was horribly hot and we were both pretty messed up later but it was fun anyway – sort of 😉
Public Holiday Bliss: Banana Chocolate Protein Smoothie in the sun, working out and practicing Double Unders (I still suck btw) and then pretzel buns with chia jam and egg on White Beans & Beetroot Hummus. #publicholiday #crossfit #crossfitathome #allthegains #doubleunders #allthebruises #smoothie #proteinsmoothie #protein #breakfast #chia #chiajam #egg #eggsandwich #hummus #foodpics #summer #summertime #sunday #newrecipe #recipetesting #relax
Due to the public holiday on Thursday the weekend began more or less on Wednesday. I worked from Starbucks in Munich and fell in love with it all over. Delicious coffee, people watching, aircon, and not too many distraction are just my perfect work space combo. This branch is also newly refurbished in a really lovely manner and they installed a lot more power plug-ins so working there is even better now. The only fail was their bathroom construction. What I see when I look in the mirror:
I am short, okay, but not THAT short 😉 In the evening I went to my PhD colloquium and met Stefan at Oh Julia afterwards.
We shared a pizza – yes it was THAT big and some white wine and had a little date! I love this place. It’s in the heart of Munich, hidden in a patio and being there feels immensely like holiday. The only thing that always baffles me is their strapline: Authentic & Italian Food! Okay what is not authentic food? Compared to what? But besides this semantic sophistication I enjoy to be there immensely.
We spend Thursday and Friday evening with the in-law-family which was fun. I love the kids so much and the adults are not that bad either. No just kidding. I couldn’t have asked for better in-laws seriously! my lovely father-in-law also provided me with the wood for my new rustic photo board. I AM IN LOVE!
On Saturday we met at Margaritaville – a friend’s Munich rooftop terrace for BBQ and Margaritas obviously.
It’s always so much fun to hang out with good old friends – some you haven’t seen in ages – drinking your way from late afternoon into the night, having good food and just enjoying the warmth. I brough a Chimichurri Bean Salad and chicken the hubby marinated for me. I might be able to sneak the recipe if he memorized the ingredients.
On Sunday we got up super early and met friends for Breakfast you had a daughter a little over a month ago. The little one slept for the whole time. What a child! It was fun to be able to catch up with her parents though. We know her Mommy for ages. She was the one who “introduced” us back in highschool! And she was the one who threw the most legendary birthday party I have ever been to last year!
Later in the afternoon Stefan had the last soccer match of the season and my sister and I went to watch. It was so hot outside and we found a shadowy place and had a sandwich watching the game and pitying the guys in the blazing sun.
The evening ended kind quiet. We took a nap in the late afternoon and then booked our last accommodation for the holidays.
today things will be quiet in the office. I have some emails to write and then some minor admin stuff to do and then I am going home fasted possible. After resigning from the soccer club I’ll go to my last practice today. Feels kinda funny in a good way.
Have a wonderful start to the week ya all!
