After being all serious yesterday let’s just have some food fun today with an easy breezy post about epic sandwiches, juicy strawberries and giant burgers as we speak of a day of celebration.
This Sunday marked our 2 year Wedding Anniversary! It was a bit crazy as we both had the feeling that it was far longer ago than only two years but all our family said they couldn’t belive it was only two years. But after all it’s not only been our 2 year mark but we’ve also hit 12 years in total last month. It’s so strange to know that I’ve been together with this guy for all my adult life. We met as kids, became friends in our teens and finally found love in each other at some point. Maybe that’s the reason why we still treat each other like teenager sometimes. One thing I love about our relationship: Lots of goofing around 😉
I love this guy to pieces and he’s not only my husband but my partner in crime and best friend. Safe to say we’ve had a fabulous 12 years and I am fully convinced that the best is yet to come. But enough of the corny prep talk let’s just have a look what we ate on our anniversary!
For breakfast I made sandwiches. We’ve had some pretty epic ones here lately but this breakfast sandwich was clearly the epitome of deliciousness so far. Spicy steak strips with a runny egg, cheese and BBQ sauce. In case you missed it you can catch up with the marinade that made the base of this epic sandwich! We exchanged gifts (yeah we do this) and spend the rest of the morning on our sofa.
After the sandwich I wasn’t very hungry for the rest of the day. For lunch I noshed on some strawberries. They are organic and local and just very sweet and juicy. The perfect strawberries so to say.
For the rest of the afternoon we turned to planning our summer vacation in Canada and the US. Basically we booked apartments, motels and cars. There is so much to do when you need 13 accommodations, 2 cars and 3 ferries. And I also read a lot about our several destinations and I need to say that I am already totally in love with Pike Place Market in Seattle. Whale watching and zip lining are on my Canada list 😉
For dinner we went to the Irish Pub where we had celebrated our wedding two years ago. I ordered the Veggie Burger and Stefan ordered the Whiskey and Bacon Burger but of course we shared both. Okay I have a confession to make. I ate my half of the veggie burger but only made it through half of my bacon burger half. But a few fries made it also to my tummy. I assure you that I can eat a lot but these portions are just ridiculous!
Later on we had our traditional wedding shots: Slippery Nipple! 2cl of Bailey’s and 2cl of Sambuca. They are wicked! We had a really good time together, laughed a lot and had a funny yet interesting what-if-we-never-got together conversation. The outcome was that probably his life wouldn’t be so different at all, maybe a bit easier and I would probably live somewhere abroad but definitely not in a relationship 😛 Did I ever mention that I am a bit challenging?
I can’t believe it’s already over again! Time flies but luckily it’s only two more days to the weekend and also only two more days until this guy turns 31! So more celebration time to come soon!
Have a great Wednesday, friends! Thanks to lovely Jenn for hosting!
