I hope you all had a fantastic weekend so far! I am still/ again stiff and sore and really really don’t want to do anything but relaxing on the couch. But as every week the apartment needs a decent cleaning and I can’t back out. I’ll also meet my Mum tonight as I haven’t seen her for a while and she hasn’t given my birthday presents nor have I given her what I bought for her in London. Pssst don’t tell her but she loves the canned ginger ale from Pret-a-manger 😉
Today the weather is absolutely shitty so I am almost glad we accomplished that run yesterday! What’s worse than a sandstorm? Yes a wet sandstorm! But first today let’s talk about protein. The macronutrient edition really is fun and leads me to think about the basis of my diet. Thanks Arman for hosting this link-up!
1. What is your favourite protein source?
I love protein! And without a doubt my favorite source of protein is meat. Cottage cheese is a very second close but unfortunately cottage cheese does nasty things to my intestines so I have to avoid it
2. What is your favourite meat?
I love beef! My favorite is a big juicy steak. I love my steak rare to medium. Give me steak anytime, anywhere and I’ll greedily down it! I also love ground beef! Beef burger and chili are a winner in my books!
3. Which protein receives unfair flack?
Again red meat. There are so many lean red meat options that I can’t understand it has such a bad reputation. Having had problems with my iron levels red meat has additional benefits for me. It is rich in iron which the body can absorb way better than most plant-based iron. So give me all the red meat

5. What is YOUR perception of this macronutrient?
I love meat, eggs, protein shakes and cheese. So in a nutshell: I really like protein! I can cut carbs without missing anything as long as I have enough protein to replace the carbs. But I couldn’t cut back on protein without getting nasty!
6. What benefits does PROTEIN play in YOUR personal eating habits?
As much as I love meat I can’t afford to eat it every day. We get all our meats from local organic farmers and that can be pretty pricy. So I sometimes struggle to get enough and have to find ways to up my protein intake. I think protein shakes and protein bars are a great way to achieve that.
Here’s my selfie
Now it’s time for pancakes! And tonight and tomorrow I will devour a holy lot of protein from the lovely chili Stefan had cooked up yesterday! Maybe some cold chili fpr breakfast tomorrow? BEST THING EVER!
Hope you have a lovely Sunday!
