Happy WIAW!!! And happy happy Hump Day! As you can read in the blog title I am on a detox at the moment but that doesn’t mean I am not participation in my favorite blog link-up. Thanks Jenn as always for hosting this!
Today I am going to show you all the food I stuff my face with whilst detoxifying my body. After publishing this post I will be off for a long sweaty Bikram yoga session which is the ideal support for a. It’s like tackling the body cleaning goal from every angle. Post yoga I have to find a cozy place at Starbucks in order to get a holy lot of work done. I have to present some research findings on Friday and to be honest I haven’t found much yet… Oooops… But let’s get back to the reason why you’re here:
I started the morning with a giant mug of hot water with lemon and chugged a Green Detox Smoothie subsequently. For the recipe just click here.I use to have my Smoothies at home even though I am used to have breakfast in the car. In the car I had another 0,5l of tea.
When I arrived in the office I was hungry again but I made myself wait till 9am to have my carrots and hot ginger water. I love ginger! It is very tasty, curves cravings and (if it can get any better) it boosts your metabolism. WINNER!!!
I am still all into pumpkins and squashes. Luckily they are all allowed during the cleanse. So my detox lunch consisted of roasted Hokkaido, zucchini and carrots my husband had made for me. He must have added a holy lot of pepper – it was darn hot. But in any case that’s the way I like it. Food almost never can be too hot for me. Considering my european taste buds obviously 😉 I also had an apple as a dessert. It’s so interesting how joyful I was looking forward to a plain apple. OHM where should that lead to? It’s almost day 2 of 12!!!!
During the detox my main goal regarding my food is to make sure to get enough protein. I don’t want my body to use the energy from my muscles only. So I made me a fantastic detox friendly treat: ♥ Chocolate Chia Pudding ♥
Since we planned to go directly to the pub after work I had to bring all my food to work with me. So having a Green Smoothie for dinner was not possible. So instead I went for another chocolate protein shake. It was really yummy. I like to add a tsp of raw cacao powder to my chocolate protein powder. It gives the extra chocolatey taste. YUM!
I spend the evening with friends watching the Champions League match and sipping water. Everyone around me had a beer or a cider and I can’t count how many burgers have been eaten that evening. But I am proud to say that I stayed strong! I must be pretty masochistic! This was the second evening in a row where I watched other people eat! The day before I was on a friend’s Thermomix party. I so badly wanted to finally buy one that I went there without the option of trying the food. And it smelled so delicious that I had to hide my nose in a steaming pot of herbal tea most of the time! Truly a masochist!
Never mind. I am already feeling the benefits. No I am kidding you I am in the “why do I actually do this?” phase. But it will pass and in the end I will feel happy and content. Or cranky and crabby – also possible! Let’s see….
