Happy Hump Day!!! Happy WIAW Day!!!
Gosh these past few days really drained all my energy! Today finally is the big day. I am going to kick-off the new program! That means a busy busy schedule and a lot of things to do! Luckily I have the most amazing student assistants you can wish for. They offer so much help and support and I literally wouldn’t be able to leave the office in the evening if they were not here. Thank you girls!
Of course there couldn’t have been a worse weekend for our London trip. But I was determined to forget about work and enjoy the time. And I did! Despite a holy lot of shopping and walking we enjoyed a lot of yummy meals. Here you find my WIAW London food wrap up
I am not bothering you with pictures of every cup of coffee or banana I had. I just show you some Highlights 🙂
When I am on holiday my eating times differ immensely from my eating times at home. Since eating is not so affected by working time schedules or social situations I tend to eat more intuitive. Nevertheless I do not work properly until I got some caffeine to my system in the morning. A lack of coffee makes me cranky! And nobody wants that! So our days started with a huge Starbucks Soy Café Latte. During the morning I had a banana or some edamame. Nothing major.
Our lunches were really great! On Friday we were pretty hungry after a morning of shopping and needed a pick up immediately! Good luck there is always a Pret a manger in walking distance. I had an amazing lunch consisting of a quinoa and mixed vegetable salad with feta cheese and some edamame beans as a side. I also tried the herbal infusion bunny detox soda but I was not a fan.
On Saturday our lunch was a on the go Mexican Roll from Portobello Road Market. I specifically wanted to go there on Saturday to have such a roll. FANTASTIC! When you’re there make sure to have a brownie too. We shared one because it was so rich. And believe me you don’t need more than a half of this evil chocolate treat! The brownie remained unpictured – too greedy to wait 😀
In the afternoon we always went for a second coffee and shared a blueberry muffin. Unpictured as well. Again too greedy!
The evenings were reserved for pubbing. The best thing to eat there is of course a burger! Thursday evening started with a burger and cider at The Spice of Life. I already told you about that yesterday. My favorite was this bacon cheeseburger with chips and tomato relish we enjoyed near Marylebone Street. Delicious!!! Again the bun remained uneaten since the burger was too big for my mouth 😉
Treats and Sweets
Of course there was some cider involved too! We found them in different flavors. We tried cherry and berry but I will stick to apple cider. Sometimes I like pear as well but anything else it too fancy for my taste buds. I am a bit snobby about cider. I love my Strongbow too much!
England offers so many sweets we don’t have in Germany. I tried some and brought some for my husband. He loves Ben’s Cookies and the purple Quality Street bar. So some of them miraculously found their way to Germany. And I couldn’t resist to go to the M&M World on Leicester Square and buy some Peanut M&Ms. Halloween edition. So much for my spooky sweets so far 😉 Next week right in time for Halloween I will show you some spooky sweets and healthy treats!
Now I am back in Germany but still not right back on track. It’s always the same. When I indulge in eating sugar for more than once every now and the feeling of needing sugar is back. And it’s darn hard to say no to Ben’s Cookies or Quality Street. So I don’t. I limit it to a small piece and I will stop having sugar when the UK stuff is gone. I am positive it won’t last long 😉
Now I am preparing my Workshop for tonight and tomorrow I will spend a relaxing SPA day with my friend Sandra. I am very much looking forward. I’ve had arms training two days in a row and I am very sore. Some sauna will help to relax!
Are you eating differently on holiday?
How long do you need to “recover”?
Thanks Jenn as always for hosting this!
